Real Food For Kids - Montgomery (RFKM)
If you or your kids aren’t satisfied with the food in MCPS and are looking for fresher, healthier options, check out this short film about Real Food for Kids – Montgomery who have been working since 2012 to bring more nutritious options to MCPS schools.
You can join their mailing list by going to http://www.realfoodforkidsmontgomery.org/join_list.php, or if you’d like to get more involved at your school, email Lindsey Parsons, Executive Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org or Alison Petersen, parent rep for Damascus (email@example.com).
SEPTEMBER 16, 2017 Rep Training (for New or Existing School Reps)
We’re gearing up for the new year and have scheduled our fall school rep training for new reps or existing reps who want a refresher for Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. followed by an all school rep luncheon from 12-1, so that returning reps can meet new ones and can share about their experiences, and everyone can give and get advice and network. Both will be held at our office at Nonprofit Village, 12320 Parklawn Dr., Rockville, MD 20852 on the second floor above Jewish Council on Aging in conference room 1.
Topics for the training from 10-12 include:
We’ll start the eating and chatting at noon. If each attendees could bring a $5 or $10 (optional) donation to help cover lunch costs, that would be great, as funds are always tight!
Please let me know if you plan to attend the training by Sept. 11th (with your name and name of school you represent) and if you plan to attend the luncheon (if you’re not attending the training) by Sept. 14th. Wellness committee members from your schools are also welcome, as are any people interested in learning more about school food advocacy who haven’t yet been part of our group.
Opportunities for Partnerships and Sponsorships
We welcome community involvement in supporting the PTSA and Damascus High School. Please let us know if your business or organization would like to sponsor a school event or support our students in other ways.
